26/03/04 OK so I've taken my Kˆ¢bel to a friends factory and we are working on the Kˆ¢bel in the morning, here are the latest photo's of last 2 days work (Big difference!!!)
This shows the jacking point, Wiring loom tube and heat duct, The bottom cill to the bend is original an so I am going to leave this front part and replace the rear repro bit with a better repro back end of cill
Inside the engine compartment
Side stiffener is now connected to the top cross brace and rear shelf/side arms
Remember the gaps below the stiffeners, we've welded a plate here to fill the gap, I will disc back and fill to make a smooth finish
Floor welded in, when doing this use the removable lid to line up the floor to the rear Firewall, this helps to get the floor to the right height
Taking shape!!! after this photo was taken we welded the rear grill part to the side arms
Looking good! and both lids work ok
We checked to see how square the rear end was by doing a cross diagonal corner to corner measurement front to back and found we were only just 3mm out!!! not bad i think seeing we have used repro panels to original parts. So now we are going to fit the cills and wheel arches fit my restored fuel tank, clean up the welds, do a small bit if cosmetic filling, under coat and spray next week!!! I have other bits of work to do but thats mainly just cosmetic stuff, this i can do once I've got it back home, I need to get a new fuel pipe from the chassis to fuel pump as i broke mine today, Need to sort the brakes out (keeping hydraulic brakes) these are a bit soft at the moment. Then once I've got it registered and MOTed I will change the engine and gear box (and spray areas i couldnt do next week |
